Chess Board

General Information
  • This Program is for children entering Grades 4-7 in the Fall of 2015.
  • No prior knowledge of Chess needed, only an ability and willingness to learn.
  • Students will be encouraged to play chess matches against each other, and to solve the chess problems provided by the instructor.
  • Topics to be discussed will include: gaining control of the board, the relative value of pieces, forks, pins, casting, securing flanks, methods of checkmate involving Queen and the Rooks, and discovered attack.
  • More topics may be included at the instructor's discretion.
